We proudly announce Taking Off the Mask a workshop for those with the desire to support youth in deeper and more heartfelt ways and who also have courage to 'take off their mask' on Saturday, January 15th, 2016. This workshop was created by Ashanti Branch, M.Ed. and featured in the documentary "The Mask You Live In". For many boys across America, living up to male stereotypes, burying emotions, and feeling alone is the norm. From suicide to substance abuse to violence, society's narrow definition of what it means to "be a man" is creating a host of unintended consequences, for young men as individuals and for our society as a whole.
This will be an experiential opportunity with practical exercises in taking off your own mask. The workshop is primarily for those working directly with youth and will be heartfelt in nature rather than an intellectual note-taking session. The workshop will be open to adults who are already working with young men, want to try to contribute to the community through leadership or are raising a boy and want to learn how to build a lasting emotional connection.
Here are the basic details on the event:
Workshop 2 hours
